Sex *does* sell. But it doesn't answer the engineering to marketing / sales gap. Do the fucking things do the job better (I've no idea, maybe you do?) I've seen inferior products hyped up, and seen superior products missing the marketing mark, so they failed.

I just remember a GM Delco R&D type explaining how they were gonna do away with the wiring harness in a car and only have a single wire that fed each component. He showed me the simulation (basically, deep space satellite protocols over power circuits to handle noise, interference, and use codes to activate/deactivate items, etc.) No more color coded wires...just a wire that provide power to the component.

That was the 80's. In my later needs to become a mechanic in every aspect including engine/ tranny rebuilder to keep my vehicles going, I would *kill* to have that system, but of course it never saw the light of day (far as I know.)

I wish each one of us could *see* into organizations to perceive what was real and what wasn't. Fucking R&D... I love it and hate it at the same time. [See: Concept Cars, Futuristic Concepts, etc.) I suspect we'd vote a little differently than the powers as to what should be made to work in the real world.

I wasn't exactly expecting a full out reply, but i'll take it. I have seen a variety cases of what you said happening. in computers, cars, and just transportation in general.

I get it. I have to admit you hit a soft spot with the GM Delco research, though. ;) Buncha old fucking people (in my time) doing shit that still hasn't seen the light of day. It kinda makes me sad.

Of course, maybe I'm just in a prolix mood.
